How do I get my permit?
The first step to getting your permit is to pre-apply for it by creating an account with the Department of Licensing using License Express. There is a link on our RESOURCES page that will get you started. This is a 3 step process,
Email your ID number to us at info@interfacedrivingacademy.com. We will file a waiver with the Department of Licensing for you. After we file the waiver we will send you an email letting you know the waiver is on file. Do not go to the Department of Licensing until you get this email from us!
If you already have a State ID Card from Washington you do not need to pre-apply, just email us your State ID Number and we will file the waiver for you. After we file the waiver we will send you an email letting you know the waiver is on file. Do not go to the DOL until you get this email from us!
If you start the pre-application process and you get a message that a number has already been issued some has already pre-applied. If you do not know what the ID number is you will need to call or go to the Department of Licensing office and get the number.
And remember... Do not go to the Department of Licensing until you get this email from us!
I have finished my classes and drives, what comes next?
Hey congratulations!!! Nicely done!
The next stps are to take your Department of Licensing Written and Drive Tests.(The test you took the last day of class was not your Department of Licensing Written test; it was the class final exam)
Go to the Driver's License Testing page of our website, there are links at the bottom of this page that you can use to book a written or drive test.
If you took the Written test to get your permit you do not need to take it again...YEA! go straight to the Drive Test.
Can I split my attendance between two different sessions of Driver Education?
No. State regulations require that students be enrolled in only one class. They are allowed to miss a maximum of three sessions of their class.
How do I prepare for the Department of Licensing Written Test
You will want to study the Washington Driver Guide very thoroughly before coming in to take the written test. There are online practice test but they do not cover Washington driving law in enough detail to set you up to pass your test.
You can down load a PDF copy of the WA Driver Guide that will allow you to search for specific topic and if you learm better by listening you can down load aps that will read the Guide to you.
Where do I take my Department of Licensing tests to get my license?
You can take your Department of Licensing Written and Drive test with Interface Driving! Our current testing location is 329 W Hastings Rd, Spokane WA
When can I take my Licensing Tests?
Once you have completed all your driver education class requirements you can take the written test. The Driver's License Testing page has a link to a calendar of testing dates and times. You do not need to make a reservation for the written test. We will occasionally cancel a test slot; check the calendar on the day you want to test to be sure we are testing.
Once you pass the written test you can sign up for a Department of Licensing Skills (Drive) Test; these do require you make an appointment with us for testing
